National business network pledges to support Calderdale residents in need better cope with the cost-of-living crisis

The Organisation for Responsible Businesses (ORB), a national network for ethical and responsible businesses, recently partnered with the Community Foundation for Calderdale (CFFC) so that funds it raised through a recent event with its members could be donated to support disabled residents of Calderdale to provide better access to benefits and income support that they are entitled to.
Through its established links throughout the County, CFFC will direct the donated funds to Disability Support Calderdale CIC who can then fund advice sessions with disabled residents. These sessions will mean people can be supported to apply for benefits that they would otherwise miss out on.
With £16 billion in benefits going unclaimed each year , even if Disability Support Calderdale can only help local disabled residents to claim 1% of this, that would equate to an additional £160 million to improve qualities of life and help mitigate the cost-of-living crises.
Rachel Oates of CFFC explained, “As a community foundation, one of our core roles is to help better link local businesses with local causes – as some of ORB’s members are local to Calderdale, this is a great example of how funds generated nationally can be used to help showcase and extend some of the inspiring work that’s happening in our local area.”
