The CalderMoments 2024 Winners Are…
Firstly, we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has entered CalderMoments – our photo and short video competition for not-for-profit organisations in Calderdale.
It was very humbling to see such a variety of snapshots of the amazing work being done, and the people involved in doing it.
Judging the competition was no easy task. We deliberated for a whole afternoon, deciding which of the 209 entries should be chosen as our favourite three.
And those three are:
Submitted by Hazel Brindle from Nest Helping The Homeless (formerly Rucksacks4Homeless), this 1st place entry description reads:
This is a short film of Colin, who tells a powerful story of how he became homeless, his desperation in wanting to end it all, and his epiphany – his realisation of what he had, and how the Rotary project – formerly Rucksacks4Homeless helped him to build his life.
Submitted by Samantha McCormick from Curious Motion CIC, this 2nd place entry description reads:
This photo was taken during a dress rehearsal for a new dance piece we made with the community in Elland in 2023, featuring local people from both non-professional and professional backgrounds. It captures the sense of togetherness, unity, and creativity of both the piece and Curious Motion’s wider approach.
Submitted by Angela Moore from Arvon, this 3rd place entry description reads:
Ted Hughes’ ‘Thought Fox’ is brought to life by Handmade Productions in Arvon North’s family writing day in Calder Holmes Park, Hebden Bridge. Rub his foxy nose and make a wish!
