#HAF is a huge success in Calderdale

Over the Summer school holidays over 6,000 children and young people in Calderdale enjoyed a huge range of activities and healthy meals thanks to the Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) Programme.

Calderdale Council partnered with The Community Foundation for Calderdale to deliver this Government-funded programme and it has been so successful they are offering grants to organisations for them to be able to run schemes over the Winter school holidays.

Places are free for children eligible for free school meals and paid for places are also available if children are not eligible.

28 providers ran activities at 43 different venues in Calderdale and gave children an opportunity to have fun and discover new passions and find their own way to enjoy getting active. From team sports, yoga, street surfing, and canoeing, to crafts, music, bushcraft, exploring nature; there was something for everyone. Plus, every child received a tasty, nutritious meal and learned about food through fun activities such as cooking, gardening, and designing their own dishes.
