Foundation Membership Club Relaunched

We might have been restricted in running our Foundation Membership events over the last few years, but July saw us have a relaunch event at Hebden Bridge Town Hall. It was great to be back in a room with so many lovely people who care about making Calderdale a nicer place to live. Over 40 people attended and it was a good mix of donors, businesses, and not-for-profit organisations. Our CEO, Steve Duncan welcomed everyone and told people about who we are and what we do, long term Foundation Club member and sponsor Richard Blackburn from PiB Insurance Brokers shared why they support us and think membership is a great idea. Rachel Oates explained how Foundation membership works and announced for a limited period £ for £ match funding is available for any new members signing up as either Friends of the Foundation or Foundation Club supporters. There are different levels of membership, you can choose the one that’s right for you:

Voluntary Organisations

£10 per year

This is for Not-for-Profit organisations

Friends of the Foundation

£120 annually or £10 per month.

This is for individuals or small businesses/ sole traders

Foundation Club Members

£600 annually or £50 per month

For Voluntary organisations £10 a year is good value for money and enables local not-for-profit organisations to be part of the group of people supporting the Foundation so we can continue to give out grants and connecting people to create a positive impact in our community.

Whatever membership you have with the Foundation 100% of your membership fee goes towards making grants to fund one of our five main priorities:

  1. Housing & Homelessness
  2. Community Cohesion
  3. Climate Emergency
  4. Health & Wellbeing
  5. Poverty

Plus, in the first year we will match fund your membership to double the amount going towards making grants. If you are a Foundation Club member, your membership fee is £600 so £1200 will go towards a grant for your chosen priority and if you are a Friend of the Foundation, your membership fee is £120 so £240 will go towards your chosen priority. We have already had new members apply. Who knew that Yorkshire folk like free money?!

We’d like to say a big thank you to our volunteers, Jan and Vicky and for people associated with the Foundation Board, Committee Members, friends and supporters (you know who you are) for backing us with not only this event but with the membership concept too.

We are big on kindness and recycling, so it only seemed right that we donated the left-over cakes to St Augustine’s Centre which were enjoyed by staff and centre-users and we donated the balloons to two other organisations – Overgate and Calderdale Lighthouse. Because the balloons were blue and white, we thought this fitted well with the Overgate branding that’s why some balloons went to Overgate. It was quite nice as we bought the balloons from Cardelium and they donate to Calderdale Lighthouse who also received some donated balloons. Calderdale Lighthouse had two boy’s birthdays so they were gratefully received and it’s nice to know someone will have had more enjoyment from them. When Calderdale Lighthouse know that a child, they are supporting has a birthday, they arrange for a present, birthday banners, cake and a balloon… and the balloons come from Cardelium. It kind of felt things were going full circle.

The next membership networking event is on Wednesday 31st August between 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm at The Room, Town Hall Dental, Brighouse HD6 1EA. Tea and coffee will be served.
