Calderdale is No.1 in the Country! This summer, more than half of all children who get Free School Meals took part in the Healthy Holidays programme. That’s the best result in the whole country which is amazing!
Healthy Holidays is a programme that gives children fun things to do in the school holidays like sports, crafts, games, plus they get healthy meals and snacks. The Government wants children who get Free School Meals to be able to have active and positive holidays, and Calderdale has done an incredible job making that happen. This isn’t just a coincidence, this happened because lots of people worked really well together including the groups who run the activities, schools, community venues, and especially the families who got involved. Everyone helped make the holidays fun, safe, and full of opportunities for children. So really, it’s a huge well done to the whole community for making summer awesome for kids in Calderdale.
