Household Support Fund

The Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) has provided councils with funds to offer direct support to households facing hardship this Winter.

The objective of the Household Support Fund is to provide support to vulnerable households in most need of support this winter as the economy recovers.

Focus for the Fund

DWP guidance states that the fund should primarily offer food and energy support but also provision has been made to support households in need of other essentials e.g. blankets, toiletries, bills, fuel.

Working with Community Foundation for Calderdale, the Council is inviting voluntary and community organisations to apply for funds to provide this direct support to vulnerable households in Calderdale.

Key aspects of the Household Support Fund

· ‘Essentials’ is not prescribed by the fund and will be driven by needs in local communities

· Funds must be spent by the end of March 2022

· Staffing costs are not included – the funds are for food and energy/essential support only

· Monitoring for each household and the support provided will form part of the funding agreement with successful applicants (a template will be provided)
