Healthy Holiday Fund
Calderdale Council has been awarded £926,070 of Department for Education funding to deliver the Holiday Activities and Food programme in 2021, known locally as Healthy Holidays. The programme is aimed at providing healthy food and enriching activities for primary and secondary school aged children who are eligible for benefit-related free school meals. Due to Covid-19, activity bags were sent home to children over Easter but as restrictions are lifting it is hoped that most of the activities will be face-to-face over the summer.
The Council is working with a wide range of partners to be able to offer a fun, creative and exciting programme over the summer holidays. The programme will run over a 4-week period from Monday 9th August to Friday 3rd September.
The Council’s Healthy Holiday web page will provide lots of useful information on activities and support available for all families during the summer holidays. This can be accessed at https://www.calderdale.gov.uk/v2/residents/community-and-living/tackling-poverty-calderdale/healthy-holidays.
We will administer the summer Healthy Holidays grants and registration will open in June 2021. Childcare providers (including childminders, wraparound care providers and activity providers), schools and community/voluntary sector organisations will be invited to apply. We are encouraging organisations to work together so that a rich and diverse programme of activities is on offer. Guidance and applications will be posted on this webpage in due course.
