Brighouse Star Twirlers
Brighouse Star Twirlers received £2000 from the Calderdale Grassroots grants programme in August. The majorette troupe teaches children new skills such as baton twirling, marching and dance routines. They will use the money to purchase new uniforms for the children, as these are the most expensive item and they get provided for the children so their parents don't have to worry about the costs
Brighouse Theatre Productions
Brighouse Theatre Productions were awarded £1869, in August, from the Calderdale Grassroots grants programme to purchase a tower scaffold. The scaffold provides safe working access to lighting battens and curtain and tab rails on the stage and in the main hail of Brighouse Civic Ball.
Not only has provided a safe working environment to them but it will be of indirect benefit to several groups and members of society attending theatrical productions at the Civic Hall.
Calder Valley Youth Theatre
Calder Valley Youth Theatre were awarded £3000 in August from the Calderdale Grassroots Grants programme to go towards their next performance of West Side Story. The Theatre, along with outside professional help, will work with their older members aged 12 to 18, for five months to train them and develop their skills. The show will then be performed five times in a professional theatre, backed by a 14-piece orchestra.
Drop By Community Resource Centre
Drop By Community Resource Centre were given £3000 by the Kirklees Grassroots Grants programme in September. The funds will enable them to install and equip a kitchen, as well as redesign the main room and add extra storage. It will also help them keep running as the centre may need to temporarily shut at some stage of its refurbishment.
Ryburn Valley Junior Football Club
The Calderdale Grassroots grants programme awarded Ryburn Valley Junior Football Club £5000 in August, to enable them to cover costs and keep running. The Club train at least twice a week and are the last surviving communal football team in the Sowerby village.
Phoenix Social Club
Phoenix Social Club received £1,991 in August from the Kirklees Grassroots Grants programme.
The group will use the award to purchase two pieces of equipment for their club, one will be a bingo machine and the other will be a number selector. They currently borrow one, however the owner would like it back. They will also use the grant to pay for some room hire to support their activities.
Thornhill Lees Over 50's Club
Thornhill Lees Over 50's Club were awarded £495 in August from the Kirklees Grassroots Grants Programme, to replace their crockery and give the centre a professional look.
The Club wished to replace their previous crockery as it was of poor quality and a matching set would look better for the visitors and for when they hold their summer fayre in the garden outside.

Netherton Wednesday Afternoon Club
Netherton Wednesday Afternoon Club were awarded £500 in July from the Kirklees Grassroots Grants Programme to provide equipment for their members, ranging from 60 to 90 years old.
Three of their members have been accepted on a Kirklees Council course for keeping fit for the elderly; gentle movement to music, exercising muscles and promoting better circulation. Therefore, equipment such as batons and balls were needed as well as a CD player and C.D's. In addition to this, the grant funded new tables at correct height for working on in their craft afternoons.
Almondbury Central TRA
Almondbury Central TRA were awarded £909 in July from the Kirklees Grassroots Grants Programme as a contribution towards their resident's community gala.
The Gala will provide activities that cater for all age groups and different cultures. They will also do a resident Community consultation on how they could work together to improve the environment and build community diversity and relationships in the Almondbury area.
