Boothroyd Community Group

In January 2010 Boothroyd Community Group received a Kirklees Grassroots Grant of £1,925 to enable the group to bring ladies together from local communities who can not yet access funding from college for courses such E.S.O.L, maths and IT. The grant will provide the multi-cultural school group with a tutor and resources for classes such as sewing, health and beauty, flower arranging, health eating, Arabic language and keep fit.

Christ Church Woodhouse Parochial Church Council

Christ Church was awarded a Kirklees Grassroots Grant of £4,900. This fund has enabled the group to renovate the kitchen area to create a more welcoming environment for the community and attract new users and group activities.

Mirfield Old Bank and Local Area Forum

In January the Forum group received a Kirklees Grassroots Grant of £1,000 to assist in sustaining the Forums growth. The fund will enable the group to purchase equipment to service the group more proficiently in undertaking administrative tasks.

7th Batley St Andrews Scout Group

The Scout Group has received a Kirklees Grassroots Grant of £900 to replace old and worn-out regularly used equipment. The grant will also provide the group with much needed cleaning equipment such as a vacuum cleaner.

Borough of Kirklees Special Needs Squad

Borough of Kirklees Special Needs Squad has received a Kirklees Grassroots Grant of £1,390 to replenish team swimming kit for the squad. The grant will also fund travel and accommodation for swimmers and volunteers to attend National Events including Reading and Southampton in 2010.

Dewsbury & District League of Friendship for Disabled Persons

In December Dewsbury & District League of Friendship for Disabled Persons received a Kirklees Grassroots Grant of £5,000 to fund a professional artist to lead classroom activities and a campaign to attract more members and volunteers and promote the hiring of rooms out of class time.


Gilder Hall Youth Foundation

Gilder Hall Youth Foundation received a Kirklees Grassroots Grant of £5,000 in December to increase activities including a camping trip for children to Bradley woods in west Yorkshire. In the February half term the children will be on a holiday where they will have the opportunity to take photographs and do some group collages to get the inspiration for the art works within the centre.


Kirklees Older Peoples Network

In December 2009 Kirklees Older Peoples Network received a Kirklees Grassroots Grant of £4,385 for the production and distribution for quarterly newsletters for members, groups and local public buildings.

MirField and District Over 50's Group

MirField and District Over 50's Group has received a Kirklees Grassroots Grant of £500 to improve and provide a door to door transport service to and from the club for members with mobility problems.
