Grants

Our grants and funding are principally for organisations with 'Charitable Purposes' in and around Calderdale. For 2010-11, based on wide consultation with stakeholders and the wider community, we have refreshed our comprehensive grants portfolio.

This website is currently under reconstruction.  We apologise for any inconvenience but you can still apply on-line, as below.

We now run 3 main types of grants & funding programmes:

1.  Donor Interest Programme

Our work supporting the community relies heavily on our generous donors and benefactors, many of whom are actively involved in our grant making: companies, philanthropists, private individuals and groups of people just wanting to make a difference locally, including through the Calderdale Pledge and LocalGiving.com. We also receive monies from wills, legacies, and other charities. Before applying, you should identify whether we have any suitable Donors for your project by first checking the guidelines and then applying on-line here.

2.  Managed Programme

As recognised independent experts, we deliver schemes on behalf of other bodies, e.g. national charities, local and national public sector organisations, and grant making trusts.  Current Schemes within our Managed Programme of Grants & Funding include Comic Relief West Yorkshire, ERDF Access Fund, Grassroots Grants Calderdale, Healthy Halifax '4Health4Fun4Life', and Reducing the Harm of Alcohol & Drugs in Children & Young People.  Before applying to these, you should identify whether we have any suitable schemes for your project by checking here  and then applying on-line here.

3.  Priority Issue Programme

The changing political and economic environment will place great pressure on charities in Calderdale in the next 12 months. With this in mind, key voluntary and community sector organisations in Calderdale are invited to take part in an exciting project to help them develop long term strategies for their organisation and become more sustainable and enterprising in the years to come. A range of supporting measures may be offered to help them become self-sustaining rather than be reliant on grant funding - for the Durability & Sustainability 'PIP' Scheme guidelines, click here

Please note this is a small pilot scheme for which we simply require Expressions of Interest.  However, only about six of the best proposals will be selected to go forwards for discussion and support. The closing date for Expressions of Interest to arrive at The Community Foundation is 9:00am on Wednesday, 29 September 2010.

For more detailed information about our new policy and priorities for grant making, read our  Grants Policy 2010-11

To understand what you can expect from us, and what we will expect from you, read our new  Charter

Please do not make separate applications for each Donor/Programme that you feel may be suited to your project - simply make one application and identify each one by name in the box headed: "What would you like to do with your grant?".

Remember that some Schemes within the Managed Programme and the Priority Issues Programme do not use these general application forms, so please carefully read and follow all the relevant guidance on this website.

If you are unable to use the on-line application form, email us at grants@cffc.co.uk for guidance - but remember that it can take much longer to get a decision on your application if you do not apply on-line.
