"In this current age of designer culture, lottery millionaires and spin doctors, it is easy for us to forget that there is a real and extreme poverty on our own doorstep here in Calderdale. Being a corporate member of the Foundation is one way in which we can make a small statement to relieve that situation.
Businesses working together to make this area a better place to live and work help us all in the long run. We must help to enhance our community and an easy way to do this is to become part of the Foundation and trust them to allocate resources wisely. We should find that rather than being an additional cost to our company it turns out to be a wise investment. If we are honest, it may also help to satisfy our consciences that we have contributed in some way.
Most of us in local companies get approached every day by a 'deserving cause'. What better way to respond than to say I am already part of my Community Foundation. This gives us a base on which we can then build later."
